Doctor Who: Dimensions In Time

Is it that time already? Who knows? Who knows what time even is? Certainly not the editing team of the Doctor Who 1993 Children In Need EastEnders crossover special, that's for sure. Not time, not flow and definitely not narrative coherence. But let's not jump ahead of ourselves...

Yes, to celebrate/commiserate/eviscerate the anniversary of Dimensions In Time and the November heralding of everyone's favourite cyclopic yellow bear, the hosts of The Peggy Mount Calamity Hour call round at the best possible place to hold such a symposium: Podcasting House, the hallowed halls of The ExtonMoss Experiment. Because the longest 17 minutes of your life calls for only the finest gin and only the harshest commentary.

What would a positive appraisal of this programme sound like? What would a decent realisation of this concept look like? And what does Squatter's Cocktail™ actually taste like..?

Get cuddly Tel to helicopter-in on honorarium and push Play, to find out...

Doctor Who and The Dogs Of Doom (1980)

Basking in the heat of the long-awaited Summer Holidays is one thing, but boredom and agitation are always round the corner for The Peggy Mount Calamity Hour. Luckily, this can be easily (if temporarily) averted with a visit to the newsagent for a ten pence mix-up and a crisp new comic...

And so an unprecedented horror-turn from a childhood favourite serves to provide the perfect chills for the hot weather, and prompts the need for a restorative tipple! Yes, our hosts have whiled away the hours reading 1980's Doctor Who opus The Dogs Of Doom, and now manage to invest a little more time dissecting it, as well.

Who decided that virus-warfare as an aid to pan-galactic expansionist colonialism would make a fitting subject for a childrens' comic? Who knew the CB-radio boom of the late 1970s would have cultural ripples for the next five centuries? And who's picking up the tab for the dry-cleaning of Sharon's A-line frock?

Materialise a Play button about two feet lower down than it should be, and find out...

1988: Doctor Who / Punishment Without Crime

It feels like it's been YEARS since we last relaxed in the company of the very reason we're all gathered around the wireless today (it's been eight weeks, in fact), and so The Peggy Mount Calamity Hour goes all Agadoo as it bends over backwards, pulls out the stops and pushes out the boat...

This week it's 1988 and we find ourselves in the mood for a double Pegging (okay, quiet at the back), as we pick up a flyer for The Greatest Show In The Galaxy only to find Dame Peggatha Mountbatten on a stall outside selling rice pudding and cold sick served in half a pineapple. Then we're so incensed about this, we find ourselves on trial for the things we only imagined doing in Ray Bradbury's Punishment Without Crime. It turns out Peggy's the judge, so we're definitely going down (really please, calm down).

Could absolutely any dystopian wilderness be improved with the judicial placement of an absolutely incendiary P.Mount? Could R.Bradbury's office be improved with the judicial placement of a cleaner? And is the ninth episode of the series really the best time for D.Velvet and B.Out to be bringing in a new outlandish character?

Well, the jury's still out...
